Christmas may be nearly two months away, but the federal Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service are already offering Christmas tree permits.
The permits are valid at the BLM Royal Gorge Field Office and the San Carlos Ranger District .

The Jefferson County Library Foundation and Friends are hosting their annual Fall Whale of a Used Book Sale Oct. 21-23, 2011, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. 6th Ave., Golden. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23. Admission to the sale is free.

Participating Colorado McDonald’s restaurants will be giving away free coffee to its customers for two weeks. After last February’s successful Free Coffee Event, McDonald’s is bringing back their free coffee to consumers to try their premium-roasted coffee.

Sheriff Ted Mink and the men and women of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will host the annual Sheriff’s Safety Fair at the Summerset Festival in South Jeffco's Clement Park, September 17 and 18.

Festivalgoers can learn culinary secrets, enjoy gourmet dishes, and savor offerings from some of the state’s favorite food establishments at the 28th annual A Taste of Colorado. The four-day, free admission, food, music, and entertainment Festival will take place Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2 through Sept. 5, in Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park.
